All central air conditioning systems have a SEER Rating. But what is a SEER Rating?
SEER stands for Seasonally Energy Efficiency Ratio. The higher a system’s SEER Rating is, the more efficient it is. It measures the total cooling of the equipment or heat pump (in BTUs) during the normal cooling season and compares that to the total electric energy input (in watt-hours) consumed during the same period.
You can find out the SEER rating of your unit by finding out who the manufacturer is. Trane, states the SEER rating right on the outdoor unit. For other manufactures, you would need to look up the model number on the outdoor unit.
